We have an advisor well versed in Salesforce, but before we decide on which CRM, I'd like to get more input from someone with expertise in CRM (who doesn't get paid to promote one CRM or another) and knows nonprofits' general needs.

We need to transition from using disconnected Google docs and sheets to an integrated CRM with mass email, newsletter, volunteer mngt, donor and potential donor tracking, and other capabilities as we grow our online communities (see learninglife.info for more about us).
