Strategic Planning Facilitation
The Old Lyme Land Trust (https://www.oldlymelandtrust.org/) is a local NGO he Old Lyme Land Trust is a non-profit organization dedicated to conserving Old Lyme’s natural, scenic and historic land and water resources for the benefit of the public now and for generations to come. The Trust accomplishes its purpose by acquiring land through donation and purchase, managing the land, and providing education to the public.
We are in need of a strategic planning facilitator to discuss a variety of issues including increasing board membership, fundraising, long-term goals, role and responsibility of board members, local school involvement, and increase community involvement.
Old Lyme is a beautiful historic town on the Connecticut River. Our preserves are beautiful and accessible to everyone. It is a somewhat affluent town, but the number of those who donate to the OLLT is small. There has been some dissension among board members, an uneven participation, the need to raise more funds, envision creative projects in our preserves, attract a younger population. We would also like to envision how we could involved some youth from nearby urban towns that don't have access to preserves and the beauty of nature. We would like to envision what we could do to bring more of the arts into our preserves. Our preserves are literally a pallet where many wonderful things could happen.
We don't have plans for a specific project and therefore want to bring in some expertise on strategic planning. We are hosting a meeting with another local Land Trust that is much bigger and affluent than we are and we hope to hear some good advice and strategies that have been successful. I am confident our board will happily work together to implement new visions and projects.
