Advice on HR Management Systems and Project Scoping Support

I would like to get advice on what our next steps should be in order to establish HR management systems and processes. I am looking for help identifying and prioritizing tasks our organization needs to accomplish to have a robust HR services. I would like to leave the session with enough information to outline a Taproot project on this subject.

Port Townsend School of Woodworking is approaching its 20th year as a fine woodworking school. We have 12 employees and numerous contracted instructors. Our Executive Director is our only full-time employee. We do not have a designated HR person. These responsibilities are split between the ED, Finance Manager, and occasionally the volunteer board. We have identified a need for (1) a handbook that addresses our employees, volunteers, and contractors; (2) updated job descriptions; (3) employee agreements/offer letter templates; (4) MSA and SOW templates for contractors, especially reimbursement policies; (4) an audit of personnel files and records (we're not sure if we have everything we need); (5) performance management practices; (6) payroll management; (7) HR/talent lifecycle processes and documentation. Maybe there's more? We could use advice on where to start or maybe just a pat on the back we're headed in the right direction before we request a project for this work.
