The goal of this Taproot Plus Session is to brainstorm mission-aligned ways for the Blue Hill Observatory and Science Center to increase its revenue, specifically to help offset general operational costs.

The organization’s revenue streams include fee-for-service programs onsite at a national historic landmark museum that engage the public, plus standard philanthropy across individual giving and memberships, corporate and foundation giving, and state government funding. The organization is especially interested in new strategies that could provide reliable, recurring, or flexible support for core operations.

The organization’s Executive Director would value an outside perspective to help identify additional opportunities that have not yet been considered. During the session, key stakeholders will share context on current development methods, audiences, and constraints, and will come prepared with an open mind and specific questions. Our goal is to leave the conversation with ideas for offsetting operational costs, a sense of prioritization, and practical next steps for testing or piloting new approaches.
