We have a simple WordPress website that we need help updating and making more visually appealing and user-friendly. The site needs a refreshed, more UX/UI-focused look. We want to position MMW as a leader in its work to support the lives of women and girls in Sierra Leone, and an improved website will go a long way in supporting our mission and vision. What we seek:

-Advice on best practices to deploy throughout the website
-Page templates - a few that can be used interchangeably
-New tabs and tabs within the tabs
-Anything else recommended by the design expert

We accomplish this important work, including employing 80 people throughout Sierra Leone on a shoestring budget. All of the work that's done outside of Sierra Leone is by volunteers: The co-chairs of the International Advisory Council are volunteers who live in Denver, Colorado. One is a professor of public health communications at the University of Denver; the other is a professional in the communications field. We deploy our skills to generate media attention, solicit grants and further support the MMW team in Sierra Leone. None of us has the UX/UI skills to create a better website. For this, we need (and appreciate) your help.

We have the volunteers who stand at the ready, able and willing to make time-sensitive edits when needed. So, we have the woman power to oversee the website, but we lack the UX/UI design skills to take the website to the next level of functionality and usefulness.

Since we are all volunteers (including our Taproot volunteer), the length of this project is best predicted by the hour. We estimate the project will take 20 hours over 4 to 5 weeks.

Media Matters for Women (MMW) connects rural women and girls in Sierra Leone – those beyond the reach of traditional media – with the tools to be healthy, live safely, and fully enjoy their rights. MMW's three journalists create podcasts – in rural villages’ local languages – that cover topics important to the health, safety, and welfare of women and girls. Our field staff, who are hired from the rural communities that we serve, deliver these podcasts to their communities via listening centers, youth advocates, town criers, and radio stations. Topics include COVID, Ebola, malaria, sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), female genital mutilation (FGM), and Sierra Leone’s June 2023 general elections.
