Free Brands is a survivor-led nonprofit that creates entrepreneurship pathways for survivors of trafficking and gender-based violence, so they can build businesses and lasting economic freedom. We are early in our journey and led day to day by our founder, and we are ready to build the kind of active, engaged board that helps an organization like ours grow. We are looking for someone experienced in nonprofit governance to help us get there. We would love help defining clear board roles and expectations, shaping how our board meets and contributes, and building a practical approach to recruiting new members who are aligned with our mission and ready to be hands-on. The deliverable is a board development plan we can put into action, including defined roles, engagement practices, and a recruitment approach we can use going forward.

A strong board is what lets a small organization become a lasting one. The more capable and engaged our board, the more support and stability behind the programs that move real dollars into survivor-led economies. For a founder carrying much of this alone, help building a board that truly shows up is one of the most valuable things a volunteer could offer, because a strong board strengthens everything we do for years to come.

As the founder, I lead this work directly and will be your single point of contact, which keeps feedback fast and consistent. I will share our current board structure, our bylaws, and an honest picture of where we are and where we want to go. We are looking for someone who understands the realities of a small, early-stage nonprofit and can give us a grounded, practical path forward.
