Global Foundation for Girls is an all-volunteer organization. We have never had paid staff, and our 34-person volunteer team carries the grant work alongside full-time jobs and family obligations. That constraint sits underneath everything else.Applications get written by whichever volunteer has time in a given month, usually by starting from an older submission. The gap is not merely writing capacity but the absence of anyone who owns the process end to end. The result is drift: our founding year, how we describe our team, our operating budget and our reach have each appeared differently across applications to different funders. Word limits and required attachments surface late. Every volunteer who picks up a draft starts over rather than starting from a process. We keep past applications, a language bank and a funder research workbook in a shared Drive folder, but we have no checklist and no documented workflow.
We are seeking support with three to four applications between December 2026 and February 2027: a foundation RFI due December 1, two to three smaller deadlines in mid-to-late December, and a fellowship application due in late January or early February. We would like the consultant focused on three things. First, reviewing and editing our drafts so each one answers that funder’s actual questions within their stated limits and guidelines. Second, building an application checklist template that flags missing or inconsistent information before a draft goes out. Third, documenting a simple, repeatable submission process our volunteer team can follow independently. Our team will handle portal accounts, uploads, submissions and filing confirmations, since those run through our own credentials. What we need most is the editorial judgment we do not have in-house, and tools we can keep using after the project ends.

Our networks serve Black and brown girls (trans or cis) and gender-diverse youth survivors of sexual violence, retributive (corrective) violence, assault, obstetric violence, birth injustice, discrimination, or disenfranchisement due to their gender, race, sexual orientation, gender expression, faith, ability, or other identity markers. This demographic likely includes youth from low-income neighborhoods and varying language skills and immigration statuses.
