Lost and Crowned, Inc. is an emerging 501(c)(3) public charity seeking an appropriately qualified CPA or nonprofit accounting professional to help us prepare reliable nonprofit financial statements and become audit-ready. We need a focused review of our available financial records for completeness, identification of missing documentation or accounting corrections, and guidance on whether an independent financial statement audit or financial review is appropriate. If the matched volunteer is a properly licensed, independent CPA and determines that an audit can be completed within Taproot’s 2 to 12 week project period and applicable professional standards, we would welcome an independent audit. Taproot and Lost and Crowned do not guarantee that an audit will be performed. We have budgets, bank and expense records, governance documents, program records, and Board oversight materials ready for review.

By the end of this 2 to 12 week project, one volunteer will deliver: 1) prepared or reviewed nonprofit financial statements based on the records available; 2) a review of our financial records for completeness; 3) a prioritized audit-readiness checklist; 4) a list of missing documentation and accounting corrections needed before an audit or review; 5) an organized readiness file and recommendations for maintaining audit-ready records; and 6) a written determination of whether an independent financial statement audit or financial review is appropriate. If the volunteer is a properly licensed, independent CPA and confirms the work is feasible within the project period and professional standards, the scope may include completing an independent financial statement audit. An audit is requested as an eligible possibility, not promised or guaranteed.
