Hope for Humanity Worldwide (HHW) is a 501(c)(3) humanitarian nonprofit seeking pro bono support from a licensed CPA or experienced nonprofit audit professional to strengthen our financial accountability and grant readiness.

As HHW pursues larger foundation and corporate grants, we would like to have our financial records independently evaluated and, if feasible within the volunteer's professional and licensing requirements, obtain an independent financial statement audit. We are particularly interested in working with a CPA who has experience with nonprofit organizations, charitable contributions, functional expense reporting, and financial statement audits.

HHW maintains financial records and supporting documentation, including bank records, contribution and donor information, expenses, Form 990 filings, organizational documents, and Board records. We are prepared to organize and provide the documentation needed for the engagement.

Our goal is to strengthen HHW's financial reporting, identify any accounting or internal-control improvements needed, and position the organization to meet the financial due-diligence requirements of larger grantmakers and institutional funders.

By the end of this project, we would like the volunteer to assess HHW's financial records and audit readiness; identify missing documentation, accounting adjustments, or internal-control improvements; review the organization of key financial schedules and supporting records; and provide recommendations for bringing HHW's financial reporting into audit-ready condition.

Ideally, we are seeking a licensed, independent CPA with nonprofit audit experience who is qualified and willing to conduct an independent financial statement audit and issue the appropriate CPA report in accordance with applicable professional standards. If a formal audit cannot be performed through this pro bono engagement, the primary deliverable will be a comprehensive audit-readiness assessment, recommended adjustments, and an organized list of schedules and documentation HHW should prepare for an external CPA audit.

Success would mean that HHW finishes the project with accurate, well-organized financial records, stronger financial controls, a clear understanding of any corrective actions needed, and either a completed independent audit (if professionally permissible) or a substantially audit-ready financial package that reduces the time and cost of engaging an independent CPA firm.

Please note, an assessment is the core deliverable with the audit itself being an additional scope the volunteer can take on if they're willing and it's professionally appropriate.
