Organization Mission
Mission
For the best interest of all children, our mission is to disrupt cycles of poverty by equipping parents with specialized skills and economic tools to earn livable wages, solve environmental issues, and create generational wealth for the families that depend on them.
What We Do
Mending Our Mistakes, Inc. (M.O.M.) is a 501(c)(3) social enterprise based in Central Arkansas. We operate on the principle of "Stability Before Accountability"—removing the practical and economic barriers that prevent parents from meeting court obligations and providing a safe, stable home for their children.
Our work centers on three interconnected pillars:
Family Stabilization & Civil Court Navigation: We support parents navigating private custody, child support arrears, and reentry who fall outside state-sponsored welfare programs. Through peer mentorship, legal literacy, and document organization, we help parents resolve administrative barriers and maintain court compliance.
Green & Historic Skilled Trade Training: Through the Arkansas Heritage Trade Academy (AHTA), we train participants in scarce, high-demand preservation crafts (historic masonry, timber framing, window restoration) and disaster-resilient construction. This equips parents to earn living wages ($26–$35+/hr) while revitalizing community landmarks.
Circular Economy & Environmental Solutions: We divert architectural materials from landfills through selective deconstruction and salvage, pairing environmental stewardship with affordable workforce housing development.
Who We Serve
Noncustodial and court-involved parents navigating child support enforcement and custody proceedings.
Individuals reentering the community from incarceration or substance recovery.
Youth aging out of the foster care system.
Rural and low-to-moderate-income families in Hot Spring, Garland, and Saline Counties.
Why Volunteer With M.O.M.?
Because our model bridges human services, trade education, and social enterprise, we offer diverse opportunities for both remote and on-site volunteers, including:
Professional & Remote Pro Bono: Grant research and writing, digital marketing, website maintenance, graphic design, and financial modeling.
Curriculum & Mentorship: Assisting with adult digital literacy (Grow with Google/IBM tracks), financial planning, or career readiness coaching.
Community Operations: Supporting material sorting, community care package distributions, and community events.
"By helping us build the systems, documents, and programs that support parents, our volunteers directly protect the stability, safety, and future of their children."
