SportHorse Global is a newly established 501(c)(3) nonprofit developing an equestrian education and workforce development campus in Wellington, Florida. We have signed a lease for 15 acres and are moving from startup spending into an operating and fundraising phase. Our current budget projects approximately $659,000 in expenses over the next 12 months, including lease payments, personnel, professional services, and one-time startup costs.
We would value a 60-minute call with a nonprofit accounting or finance professional to help us set priorities for sound financial management. Specifically, we would like to discuss how to structure our chart of accounts to track campus, program, fundraising, and administrative costs; distinguish restricted gifts, pledges, loans, and in-kind support; and produce useful monthly budget-to-actual and cash-flow reports for our board. We would also appreciate guidance on what bookkeeping support and financial controls a small organization needs now, and when to engage an outside accountant for year-end reporting and tax filings.
We can share our current operating budget and expense records before the call. Our goal is to leave with a practical list of next steps, including the reports we should prepare each month and the accounting expertise we should seek as SportHorse grows.
