About the Opportunity

EQUAL MEANS EQUAL is entering an important period of organizational growth, and we want to build a sustainable, diversified fundraising strategy capable of supporting our national work over the long term.

We recently secured a significant foundation grant to support our national constitutional equality initiative, but historically our fundraising has relied heavily on a small number of committed donors, foundation support, and the personal relationships of our leadership. We would like to become more strategic and systematic about development while preserving the relationships and mission-driven approach that have sustained our work.

In this one-hour session, we would like to brainstorm with an experienced nonprofit fundraising/development professional about how best to diversify our revenue, including major donors, foundations, individual giving, board engagement, institutional and corporate partnerships, and other appropriate sources. We would also like advice on what fundraising infrastructure and development capacity we should prioritize at our current stage of growth.

Our goal is to leave the session with a clearer sense of which fundraising opportunities EQUAL MEANS EQUAL should prioritize now, what systems or capacity we need to build, and what a larger development project or professional engagement should focus on.

Organization Mission

EQUAL MEANS EQUAL is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to securing full constitutional equality regardless of sex through the recognition and enforcement of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA). The ERA completed the requirements for ratification and became enforceable federal law on January 27, 2022. EQUAL MEANS EQUAL works to ensure that this constitutional guarantee is recognized and enforced through strategic litigation, public education, legislative and policy advocacy, coalition building, and grassroots engagement.
