I’m submitting a general operating grant application due August 1, and I’d like a grant writer’s eyes on my written narrative before it goes out. I’ll bring a complete short draft to the call, so this is a review-and-refine conversation rather than writing from scratch. The draft is two brief pieces totaling under a page: a summary of our mission, programs, and goals, and a paragraph on why we’re best suited to this work.

What I most need in our 60 minutes is honest feedback on whether the case lands. Is the mission clear to someone reading it cold, does the impact framing feel credible, does the funding ask read with confidence, and am I overclaiming or underclaiming anywhere. We’re an early-stage nonprofit with genuine early traction, a completed 61-survivor research study, self-efficacy assessment data from our members, and our first accelerator cohort launching this year, so the specific challenge I’m working on is how to present real early-stage evidence persuasively without inflating it. Concrete edit suggestions I can apply right after we talk would be ideal.

For context, Free Brands is a survivor led nonprofit creating entrepreneurship pathways for survivors of trafficking and gender-based violence. Our core thesis is that entrepreneurship is an empowering vehicle to lasting economic freedom. This is a general operating request, so the narrative is doing all the persuasive work, which is why a professional review before submission would mean a lot.
