Our organization is looking to expand our board of directors. We are seeking advice on basic board composition questions from someone with a background in nonprofit governance, board work, and/or recruitment. During this Session, I’d like to discuss: Should we utilize a ‘working board’ or ‘governing board’ model? What skills should we recruit for? What should the minimum and maximum term lengths for board members be? Should we stagger board terms?

Organization Mission

Chicago Cultural Performing Arts and Media Alliance (CCPAMA) is a local arts and culture organization whose principal work is to implement the City of Chicago’s vision, values, and goals conducted through contracts with the City of Chicago and bring these goals to the communities as a strategy for fighting violence and bringing opportunities. CCPAMA also executes private and grant funded special projects to meet the needs of the arts community, such as disaster preparation, education in creative arts, mentorship, and temporary public performing art projects that energize neighborhoods.
