HR Guidance on Managing Extended Employee Absences
We’re looking for HR guidance on how to navigate an extended, unplanned employee absence in a part-time, hourly role that doesn’t include benefits. The absence has significantly impacted our small team’s workload, and we want to make sure we handle the situation appropriately, both from a legal and compassionate standpoint. Specifically, we’d appreciate advice on communicating with the employee, managing work coverage, and understanding what considerations we should keep in mind to avoid violating privacy laws like HIPAA.
