Youth Development Multi-Week

About the Opportunity

The final deliverable will be a strong marketing strategy to increase awareness of our organization's new home to families in East Harlem and the NYC community at large. We will be hosting an open house for our opening and would like to introduce KR3Ts to about 150 parents and children.

After Hurricane Sandy, KR3Ts lost its home and spent the last 3 years displaced; operating through various locations in the neighborhood. Starting in July, the company will take up long-term residency at the Julia de Burgos community center. The event is the perfect opportunity to strengthen community support for empowering East Harlem’s youth.

The volunteer’s work will help create a strategy for the organization to reach youth beyond the company’s word of mouth. It will also help to re-establish the dance company’s mission to be at the forefront for youth in the area.

Organization Mission

For 25 years, Keep Rising To The Top (KR3Ts) has been fulfilling a vital need in East Harlem for positive alternatives to social and street pressures through free dance classes and support programs. Children learn to express their talents and build important life skills like dedication, cooperation, and focus through dance. This not only improves their self-esteem, but helps them develop the drive needed to overcome struggle and reach their personal ambitions. The founder, Violeta Galagarza, learned this lesson early in life. A teenage mom, her dreams of being a dancer were challenged when she was forced to stop dancing at Alvin Ailey. She refused and formed Keep Rising To The Top!
