Global Empowerment Network, Inc. (GEN) is a growing 501(c)(3) nonprofit advancing education, connecting underserved individuals with pro bono legal resources, and supporting communities through charitable and development initiatives. Since beginning as a free educational initiative in 2021, GEN’s programs and initiatives have reached more than 70,000 people.
GEN is now at a stage where we need a practical financial planning and budgeting system that reflects how the organization actually operates. Our programs include educational and professional development activities, legal-resource and referral initiatives, and community-support projects, delivered through a combination of volunteers, partnerships, online programming, and in-person activities.
We currently operate with limited financial and staffing resources and need professional guidance to organize our expenses, understand the real cost of priority programs, distinguish program costs from organization-wide operating costs, and develop realistic budget assumptions for responsible growth.
GEN can provide information about current programs, known expenses, planned activities, organizational structure, and anticipated resource needs. Learn more at www.globalempowermentnetwork.org
By the end of the project, we would like a practical budgeting framework that GEN leadership can maintain and use for internal planning, grant preparation, and responsible program growth.
The consultant will help GEN develop:
1. An annual organizational budget structure with appropriate operating and program expense categories.
2. A reusable program-budget template for estimating the cost of individual GEN programs and initiatives.
3. A clear method for distinguishing direct program expenses from shared administrative and organizational expenses.
4. Reasonable planning assumptions for major needs such as staffing or contractors, technology, communications, program delivery, administration, and community activities.
5. A simple current-capacity and future-growth budget framework showing how resource needs may change as priority programs expand.
Success would mean GEN has a realistic, understandable, and reusable budgeting system that supports stronger financial decision-making without requiring a complex accounting infrastructure.
