Grandmothers’ Village Project is seeking an experienced nonprofit funding researcher to help identify foundations, corporate funders, philanthropic institutions, and other funding sources whose priorities strongly align with our mission, vision, values, and projects.
The volunteer will first become familiar with GMVP’s organizational identity, Indigenous-led approach, philosophy, current projects, communities served, and long-term vision. Using that understanding, they will conduct targeted prospect research to identify funders for whom GMVP represents a genuine mission and funding-priority match.
This is primarily a research and prospect-development project, not a grant-writing project. We are seeking quality of alignment rather than a large generic list of funding opportunities.
By the end of the project, we would like a curated and prioritized funding prospect pipeline of approximately 20–30 well-researched prospects whose funding priorities genuinely align with GMVP.
For each prospect, we would like relevant information such as funding priorities, typical grant size or giving range when available, geographic and eligibility requirements, application process and upcoming deadlines, whether unsolicited applications are accepted, examples of comparable organizations or projects funded, the GMVP project or organizational need that appears to be the strongest fit, and any potential relationship-building or introduction opportunities identified through the research.
The final prospect pipeline should help GMVP determine not simply which funders we can approach, but which funders are genuinely worth pursuing and why.
Applicants should reside in Massachusetts or the New England region and have familiarity with the local nonprofit and philanthropic landscape.
