About the Opportunity

A BBI board member has professional relationships with high-end clients and contacts who may have interest and capacity to support our mission, but he has limited experience with nonprofit fundraising. He would like to begin approaching appropriate contacts for philanthropic support in a personal, non‑institutional way and needs help translating his commitment to Building Biology Institute Corp into persuasive donor outreach while also building his confidence and fundraising skills.

We are looking for a volunteer with nonprofit fundraising communications experience to work directly with our board member. The volunteer will:
- Draft a polished, approximately one-page donor solicitation letter in the board member’s voice that explains why he personally supports BBI, communicates the importance and relevance of our mission, and makes a clear philanthropic ask without sounding generic or overly promotional.
- Provide coaching and actionable guidance to the board member on relationship-based fundraising, including identifying and prioritizing prospective donors, personalizing outreach, making an appropriate ask, following up, cultivating ongoing relationships, and transitioning a conversation into a donation request. The coaching should leave the board member with practical next steps and sample language he can reuse when contacting his network.
- Work collaboratively with the board member to refine tone and messaging so the final letter feels authentic to him and is ready for personalization and direct outreach.

Organization Mission

Creating a Global Village Of Awareness. Our mission, now in its 39th year, is to help create healthy homes, schools, and workplaces free of toxic indoor air, tap-water pollutants, and hazards posed by electromagnetic radiation. We fulfill our mission by guiding both the general public and working professionals (architects, builders, engineers, interior design professionals, physicians, nurses, and other health care practitioners, real estate professionals, etc.) to an understanding of the vital and complex interrelationship between the natural and built environments, and teach them the means for merging these complementary environments into greater harmony and planetary health.
