WooCommerce Gear Store Development

Handicapped Veterans Association, Inc., doing business as HVA Social, seeks one skilled volunteer to complete the initial WooCommerce and Printful integration for Gear dot HvaSocial dot org. The project will deliver a working, tested pilot storefront for a limited catalog of HVA-approved Printful merchandise.

This supports our mission of addressing veteran suicide and helping solve healthcare problems by giving HVA a manageable way to offer approved merch and outreach materials. The volunteer will own this project from kickoff through testing and handoff.

HVA's CTO will serve as the organizational contact, provide technical context and access, approve decisions, and receive the completed work. Proposed duration: 6 to 8 weeks, with scope and milestones confirmed at kickoff. HVA will provide written requirements, access, artwork, product information, and pricing. This is an unpaid, project-based volunteer engagement.

A working, tested WooCommerce pilot storefront integrated with Printful, including Standard WooCommerce storefront, catalog, cart, checkout, and account pages for the pilot. Printful connection and configuration of the agreed products, an existing, supported integration for HVA's approved payment processor, verified order sync with Printful and tracking, testing of the purchase flow and basic usability, admin instructions, setup notes, backup and recovery procedures, and a handoff session with the CTO. This phase covers standard commerce and Printful only. Custom state reporting and additional suppliers will come later.

Success means the pilot supports a documented, successful order-to-fulfillment flow and HVA's team can manage it.

Organization Mission

HVASocial™ is a HIPAA-compliant, member-based social and advocacy platform operated by the Handicapped Veterans Association that places suicide prevention at the center of its mission. The program supports prevention efforts by promoting the VA S.A.V.E. framework and expanding public awareness through direct outreach in everyday community settings, including staffed event tables at retail locations such as Walmart, and other high-traffic venues. In addition, HVASocial strengthens protective factors by rebuilding veteran community and camaraderie through peer interaction and coordinated online and in-person events. Together, these activities extend VA suicide-prevention initiatives beyond clinical environments, increase early recognition of risk, and improve connection to appropriate VA and community-based support resources.
