golden eyes project is seeking a child art therapist to support the development of art-based challenges for gep Magazine, our remote mentorship program for children and teens ages 8–17.
gep Magazine uses creative, gamified challenges with intended developmental outcomes to encourage children to explore their emotions, creativity, relationships, communities & the world around them. We would like to incorporate several art-based challenges that introduce children to constructive ways of expressing, exploring & processing emotions through creative activities.
We are looking for a professional with experience in child art therapy who can help us translate relevant principles and techniques from the field into accessible challenge concepts appropriate for a remote, non-clinical youth program.
The volunteer will help gep identify ways in which art-based practices can support child & adolescent development, particularly in areas such as emotional awareness, emotional expression, reflection, self-understanding & healthy processing of feelings.
Working with our team, the volunteer will:
• Identify developmental outcomes that can appropriately be supported through art-based activities in a remote, non-clinical mentorship program.
• Recommend techniques, prompts or activity structures that could be translated into engaging challenges children can complete independently.
• Help us develop challenge concepts based on those principles.
• Review & provide feedback on gep's art-based challenge concept as they develop within the volunteer's availability.
The final deliverable will be approx. 5 to 10 professionally informed challenge concepts matched with identifiable child developmental outcomes that gep can use to create complete child-facing challenges for our keystone's initiative, gep Magazine.
The volunteer will not provide therapy, diagnose participants or communicate directly with children.
