IIRR is exploring how AI and digital tools can be used more effectively to improve organizational efficiency, knowledge management, proposal development, reporting, and other recurring work processes.
Our organizational skills-gap assessment identified AI and technology adoption as an area where staff would benefit from additional practical support. Staff recognize opportunities to use AI and digital tools, but there is a need to move from individual experimentation toward more consistent, effective, and responsible use across teams.
IIRR is seeking a pro bono consultant with experience in AI implementation and organizational digital transformation to help identify practical opportunities for using AI and other digital tools within existing workflows.
The project should focus on how technology can be integrated into real work, rather than providing general AI awareness training. The consultant would work with IIRR staff to identify high-value, repeatable use cases, assess current workflows, and recommend practical tools, processes, and approaches that can be implemented within the organization's existing capacity and resources.
By the end of the project, IIRR would like to have:
A practical AI/digital transformation roadmap identifying priority opportunities for using AI and digital tools across selected organizational functions, such as proposal development, reporting, knowledge management, data analysis, communications, and administrative processes.
A prioritized list of 3–5 practical AI use cases, including the problem being addressed, recommended tool or approach, expected benefit, implementation considerations, and any relevant risks or limitations.
One or more redesigned workflows or AI-enabled processes demonstrating how a selected recurring task can be completed more efficiently using appropriate digital tools.
Practical guidance for staff on responsible and effective AI use, including considerations around accuracy, confidentiality, data protection, human review, and appropriate use of AI-generated content.
A hands-on staff learning session in which the consultant demonstrates the selected tools/workflows and supports staff in applying them to their own work.
Success would mean that IIRR has moved beyond general awareness of AI and has a clear, practical plan for integrating selected AI and digital tools into everyday workflows, with staff able to apply the approaches independently after the project.
