About the Opportunity

The Society of Future Nurse Anesthetists (SFNA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting the future nurse anesthesia workforce through education, mentorship, and career development. As our community and programming have grown, so has the need for sustainable funding to expand access to our initiatives and support more nurses and aspiring CRNAs.

We have continuously sought grant funding and submitted applications but have not yet received a grant award. While we have developed educational programs, mentorship opportunities, and a growing community, we recognize that we need a more strategic approach to identifying funders whose priorities align with our mission and presenting our programs in a way that demonstrates measurable impact.

Our challenge is not a lack of programs or community need, but limited grant development capacity and expertise. We need help identifying realistic funding opportunities, assessing our grant readiness, strengthening our organizational and program narratives, and developing competitive proposals.

We are seeking a skilled volunteer who can help us establish a more focused and sustainable grant development strategy so that SFNA can pursue funding more effectively and expand its impact on the future nurse anesthesia workforce.

By the end of this project, the volunteer will deliver a grant development package that positions the Society of Future Nurse Anesthetists (SFNA) to pursue funding for its education, mentorship, and healthcare workforce development initiatives.

The deliverables will include:

- Grant Prospect Research: A list of 5–10 potential foundation, corporate, or other grant opportunities aligned with SFNA's mission, including eligibility requirements, funding priorities, typical award amounts, deadlines, and application links.
- Prioritized Funding Recommendations: Identification of the top 2–3 opportunities most appropriate for SFNA, with recommendations on which programs or initiatives should be positioned for funding.
- Grant Readiness Assessment: A review of SFNA's existing materials and identification of any information, documentation, program outcomes, budgets, or other materials needed to strengthen future applications.
- Reusable Grant Proposal Framework: Development of a core organizational narrative, statement of need, program description, goals and outcomes, and other reusable content that can be adapted for future grant applications.
- Priority Application Support: If a suitable opportunity and deadline are identified within the project timeline, assistance preparing or reviewing one priority grant application.

Success will mean SFNA has a clear, actionable grant funding strategy, a prioritized list of realistic opportunities, and reusable materials that reduce the time and effort required to pursue future funding.
