About the Opportunity

DWC leads the Domestic Violence Homeless Services Coalition (DVHSC) with Haven Hills. The DVHSC was created in 2017 to address the silos that existed between homeless services and victim service providers in Los Angeles County. We have done a lot of local policy advocacy and have started to focus on statewide policies that will result in more housing resources and investments for survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual assault. This project is important for the Domestic Violence Homeless Services Coalition, which turns 10 years old next year. Although we started by looking at the intersection of domestic violence and homelessness, we want to rename the organization the "Survivor Housing Coalition" to be more inclusive of survivors of human trafficking, sexual assault, and stalking. The goal is to reveal the new name and hold in-person and virtual events to familiarize the community with the rebrand.

We have explored hiring someone to help us with the logo design, but our budget is tight. Our work is centered on collaborating with survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual assault who have experienced housing instability. We provide training and support to help them facilitate workshops and participate in advocacy efforts, including policy-making and policy implementation. Since most of them do not have employment in the field, we always compensate them for their time and expertise. The funds we save will help us continue engaging with survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual assault who have experienced housing instability and compensating them meaningfully for their partnership.
