Organization Mission
Colectiva Legal del Pueblo
Colectiva Legal del Pueblo is the only non-hierarchical legal collective in Washington founded by and for undocumented immigrants. In this moment of escalating enforcement, Colectiva is on the frontlines supporting communities facing detention, deportation, and family separation. Colectiva’s Burien office in south King County serves hundreds of people each year through legal clinics, limited-scope services for asylum seekers, and full representation, including in the Seattle Immigration Court, the Northwest Detention Center, and federal courts. Colectiva provides Rapid Response and Know Your Rights trainings that empower and equip communities to respond to ICE enforcement in real time. Colectiva’s holistic approach also goes beyond legal services. Colectiva distributes food and diapers and hosts workshops on topics ranging from cooking to computer literacy, helping to stabilize families and foster dignity, resilience, and connection. Grounded by its deep roots and shared leadership model, Colectiva is responsive to its community’s evolving needs, guided by the belief that solo el pueblo salva al pueblo—only the people will save the people.
