About the Opportunity

We are a small, newly developing 501(c)(3) public charity working to empower children. We are transitioning from organizational & program development toward initial implementation of our keystone initiative, gep Magazine. We have limited institutional grant-writing experience: our Director has a background in grassroots crowdfunding but is new to operating a nonprofit and pursuing institutional funding.

We have a Grant Research & Writing Intern who is beginning to research funding opportunities and draft materials. We want to grow internal grant capacity rather than have an external volunteer take over submissions.

We are open to appropriate funding sources, including private & community foundations, corporate philanthropy, government/federal opportunities, arts & culture funders, youth development & education funders, and STEM & environmental education funders.

We are looking for a volunteer with Grant Writing expertise to advise & build the grant capabilities of our team at golden eyes project while collaborating with our Director & Grant Intern.

The volunteer will:

• Develop a simple grant funding strategy & documented grant development process our team can follow going forward.

• Review our existing grant research, tracking system, templates & workflow to recommend improvements or additional resources, criteria & best practices.

• Identify & prioritize grant opportunities for which we may competitively qualify, including funding sources or opportunities our team may not know to look for, and provide a prospect list with funder name, focus area, brief eligibility notes, fit/prioritization guidance and recommended next steps.

• Recommend additional templates, checklists & internal resources for our team to develop in support of an effective grant application process.

• Provide or recommend relevant research resources & grant evaluation tools where appropriate.
