About the Opportunity

Climate House is developing a "food" program that explores the political ecologies of food through sensory experience–including public art meals, ticketed meals, and other forms of culinary integration into programs. These programs use the meal—not simply as a subject, but as a medium—for public learning, cultural exchange, and policy imagination. We are interested in how ingredients, recipes, agricultural systems, land, labor, extraction, trade, climate, and governance can become tangible through eating together, while creating opportunities to advance policy conversations through the meal and its surrounding cultural components.

We are looking for a graphic designer with strong communications instincts to help us develop the public-facing identity of this food program in relationship to Climate House’s existing brand.

The first phase would include light research into food-as-art, politically engaged food practices, and adjacent cultural programs we admire, followed by development of a compelling program name/title architecture and visual identity.

Deliverables would include:
* A recommended name/title architecture for the food program
* A visual identity/brand kit that is clearly in conversation with the existing Climate House identity
* Core typography, color, graphic, and image-direction recommendations
* A small set of adaptable brand assets/templates for digital and print use
* Social/web applications that can distinguish individual food programs while maintaining a coherent program identity
* A concise 1-page brand/communications guide articulating the program’s premise, voice, audience, and visual language

The identity should be flexible enough to support both ticketed experiences and free/public art programs, as well as dinners, publications, collaborations, installations, and other food-related formats.

Organization Mission

Climate House is a creative think tank using the arts to illustrate actionable pathways forward—and bring them to life. Our Mythos Embodied Climate: Climate change is not the abstract, technical issue it’s often framed to be–but a universal, ambient one experienced through our bodies and daily lives. CH communicates using universal sensory language, to reintegrate our understanding of climate change as real in the felt sense, and as a core defining issue shaping everything around us. Universal Sensory Language: By speaking this universal language of the senses, we can communicate in a language everyone speaks and understands. This helps reframe climate as an everyone issue–providing an opportunity for the general public to reclaim their agency in understanding it and engaging with its solutions creatively, collaboratively, and meaningfully. Culture-First: Culture is the fabric of daily life. CH uses a broad suite of cultural tools to meet people where they are, designing programming that is audience-tailored and culture-first, recognizing this as the carrier oil for engaging with more complex topics. Show-not-tell: Because seeing is believing, we design programs that show, not tell. All of our programs are seared with a blueprint, grounding solutions on the experiential plane, allowing our audience to feel solutions that are so actionable, they can taste them.
