About the Opportunity

We have individuals willing to volunteer but lack a structured way to identify where volunteer support is most needed across programs, operations, fundraising, outreach, events, and administration. As a small organization, we want to make better use of this available talent without creating additional administrative burden. We need a reliable method to match volunteers to one-time, short-term, and ongoing opportunities based on their skills, interests, experience, availability, and our organizational priorities.

We are looking for a volunteer with Volunteer Management expertise to design a practical, skills-based volunteer engagement and matching system. The volunteer will:
- Develop a framework for identifying and categorizing volunteer needs across programs, operations, fundraising, outreach, events, and administration, producing a prioritized needs taxonomy our team can use.
- Create a process and matching logic for pairing volunteers to appropriate opportunities (one-time, short-term, ongoing) that uses volunteers' skills, interests, experience, availability, and our organizational priorities, and produce any simple matching templates or fields needed to apply it.
- Recommend a workflow from volunteer interest through placement and onboarding, documenting required steps, roles/responsibilities, and simple templates or checklists for each stage.
- Provide simple tools or recommendations for tracking and managing the process, along with brief written guidance and a handoff/training session for the volunteer coordinator or designated team member who will maintain the system.
