HR Performance Review and PD Plan Revamp

Janney+ is the parent-run nonprofit that operates before care, after care, enrichment classes, camp days, language immersion, and summer camps for students at Janney Elementary School in Washington, DC. The program is built around a simple goal: give kids a playful, supportive setting where they can explore new interests, build friendships, and feel confident — whether that's through hands-on enrichment classes; partner-led camp activities; or immersive French, Spanish, and Chinese language sessions open to students from PK through 5th grade.

We have a large staff (66) and our current performance review and professional development approach is not simple or engaging enough for efficient adoption. It hasn't been updated in ages, is extremely time-consuming, consists mostly of box-checking, and doesn't offer insight into the work or incentives for improvement. We need a streamlined way to assess culture-building goals, work objectives, and professional development objectives that clearly tie back to individual and larger organizational goals. We want the new process ready to use by November and would prefer it to incorporate easy digital tools or lightweight workflows.
