About the Opportunity

The Makings of You Foundation is a nonprofit creating culturally grounded spaces for women—particularly Black women—to heal from intergenerational trauma, build resilience, strengthen wellness, and rise with purpose and joy.

Our existing Squarespace website no longer fully reflects our growing programs, partnerships, impact, or fundraising needs. We have already completed the discovery and planning phase. A Taproot volunteer provided a mobile-first, story-centered direction for the website. Another volunteer reviewed the user experience, navigation, accessibility, information architecture, and donor journey and developed recommendations and an initial Figma concept.

The last volunteer recently accepted a new position and cannot continue through implementation. We now need an experienced Squarespace 7.1 developer to take over the project and implement the direction already established.

We need help specifically with website development and implementation—not another audit, new brand strategy, platform migration, or extensive copywriting. The current barriers are dense content, unclear navigation and calls to action, outdated program information, and an incomplete donation experience.

We are prepared to provide the existing website, contributor access, Figma concept, written recommendations, approved website copy, logo, brand colors, photographs, program descriptions, testimonials, and donation information. The Founder and Executive Director will lead the project, provide timely feedback, and approve each stage before publication.

The volunteer will produce a fully implemented, published, and mobile-responsive Squarespace 7.1 website based on the provided Figma concept, documented recommendations, approved copy, photographs, and brand materials.

The completed website will include approximately six main pages:

Home
About, including the Founder and Board
Our Programs
Our Impact and Testimonials
Get Involved and Contact
Donate

Specific deliverables will include:

Clear site navigation and a consistent footer
A story-centered, mobile-first homepage
Updated program, organizational, and impact content
Configured contact and newsletter sign-up forms
Donation buttons and Givebutter donation integration
Prominent calls to action throughout the website
Consistent use of the foundation’s logo, colors, typography, and photographs
Basic accessibility improvements, including headings, image descriptions, readable text, and color contrast
Basic on-page SEO, including page titles, descriptions, and social-sharing information
Testing of all pages, forms, buttons, links, and donation pathways on desktop and mobile devices
Final publication following the Executive Director’s approval
A brief website maintenance guide
One training and handoff session showing the Executive Director how to update text, photographs, programs, events, forms, links, and buttons

Success will be a polished, functioning website that clearly communicates who we serve, what we offer, why the work matters, and how visitors can participate, partner, volunteer, or donate.
