We’re looking for a creative, strategic volunteer to help strengthen our social media presence while making it easier and more efficient to manage our multiple channels. You’ll create a two-month social media content calendar, draft copy for 15–20 posts, and design accompanying social graphics using our existing branding and assets. You’ll also recommend ways to customize and optimize content for different platforms and share guidance on tools that could help automate post scheduling.

The final deliverable will be a completed two-month content calendar featuring 15–20 platform-ready posts, including suggested copy and graphics, along with a reusable template our team can use for future planning.

You’re a great fit if you’re passionate about our mission to raise awareness and funding for metastatic breast cancer, have experience managing professional social media accounts and creating engaging social content, and can dedicate approximately 2-5 hours per week for the next 8 weeks.
This project will help #LightUpMBC expand its reach, educate more people about metastatic breast cancer, and build momentum leading up to Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day on October 13. By developing a strategic social media content calendar and creating compelling graphics, the volunteer will help us share patient stories, promote participating landmarks and events, recognize supporters, and encourage audiences to watch #LightUpMBC Live and donate to lifesaving research.

Their work will directly strengthen the world’s largest visual campaign for metastatic breast cancer awareness, which illuminates hundreds of landmarks in pink, teal, and green. A consistent and engaging social media presence will help patients feel seen, connect communities around the world, and turn awareness into meaningful action. Ultimately, the volunteer’s creativity will help amplify the voices of people living with metastatic breast cancer and support our fundraising efforts benefiting METAvivor, a 501c3 organization dedicated exclusively to funding metastatic breast cancer research.
To prepare for the project, we will provide you with our events calendar and other relevant social media handles of organizations that are pillars in our sector. You'll have access to a file of photos and logos and a list of our hashtags.

Organization Mission

METAvivor is the only organization in the U.S. that uses a peer-and-patient-advocate-review process to exclusively fund Stage 4, metastatic breast cancer (MBC) research. We award research grants to individuals with a clinical or other doctoral degree who are actively engaged in MBC research, and whose proposals show distinct promise in making a difference for the stage 4 breast cancer community. #LightUpMBC is the largest fundraising campaign for METAvivor and the world's most visual call to action through the illumination of over 316 landmarks on Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness Day. #LightUpMBC Live is a virtual livestream that provides a platform for education and advocacy, highlighting the urgency of funding scientific breakthroughs for the most advanced stage of breast cancer.
