Employee Handbook Development

Moonshot Museum is seeking a skilled volunteer to review and update our existing employee handbook. We are looking for someone with a background in human resources and/or nonprofit operations who can help us improve transparency and accountability by clearly communicating employee rights, workplace policies, benefits, performance expectations, and standards of conduct.

This project will include:

1. Reviewing our existing handbook, policies, and related materials and asking clarifying questions.

2. Identifying policies that should be revised and recommending any new policies or topics that should be included.

3. Presenting a detailed outline for the revised employee handbook.

4. Drafting the revised handbook and incorporating feedback from our team.

The final deliverable will be a clear, organized, and editable employee handbook that reflects Moonshot Museum’s current workplace practices and supports our continued growth.

To prepare, we've designated a team member to oversee the project. We'll provide you with our existing Employee Handbook (if applicable), internal communications regarding employment policies, and any other employment policies that we have in place. The volunteer should expect to spend 15-20 hours over 4-5 weeks.

Moonshot Museum has an existing employee handbook and related policies available for review. Our leadership team is committed to this project and prepared to provide organizational information, answer questions, and offer timely feedback throughout the process.

A designated staff member will serve as the primary point of contact and coordinate access to materials and input from the appropriate team members. Once completed, the revised handbook will be shared with all employees, incorporated into staff onboarding, and used as a consistent reference for workplace policies, benefits, performance expectations, and standards of conduct. Employees will also be asked to acknowledge receipt of the updated handbook.
