Little Living is seeking an experienced fundraising and development professional to help establish a sustainable major gifts and fundraising program for our nonprofit. We are developing Market Street Village, a 20-home permanently affordable cottage community in Georgetown, Delaware, that will provide safe, energy-efficient housing for seniors, veterans, and working families.
Rather than simply helping us raise funds, we are looking for a volunteer partner who can help us build the foundation for long-term fundraising success. During the engagement, we would like assistance with:
- Developing a comprehensive fundraising strategy focused on individual major donors, family foundations, and corporate partners. - Identifying high-potential donor prospects and creating cultivation strategies. - Helping us establish a major gifts program, including donor outreach and stewardship best practices. - Recommending strategies to engage business leaders, community influencers, and philanthropic partners. - Reviewing and strengthening our fundraising messaging, case for support, and donor communications. - Advising our Marketing & Development Committee on fundraising priorities, annual goals, and volunteer engagement. - Providing coaching and guidance that will help our volunteer-led organization build fundraising capacity well beyond the engagement.
Little Living has already secured significant grant funding and public support for Market Street Village. We are looking for a strategic advisor who can help us expand our network of major donors and funding partners so we can complete this project and replicate permanently affordable cottage home communities throughout Delaware.
Little Living's mission is to create permanently affordable, high-quality cottage home communities that provide safe, energy-efficient housing for seniors, veterans, and working families while strengthening neighborhoods throughout Delaware.
The volunteer's expertise will help us build the fundraising capacity needed to bring that mission to life. Rather than supporting a single fundraising campaign, this project will help establish the long-term relationships, strategies, and development infrastructure that will enable Little Living to complete Market Street Village and expand permanently affordable housing opportunities across Delaware.
Market Street Village will transform underutilized Brownfield properties into a vibrant neighborhood of 20 permanently affordable cottage homes in Georgetown, Delaware. These homes will provide stable, affordable housing for individuals and families who are increasingly priced out of the local housing market, allowing them to spend less on housing and more on healthcare, education, transportation, and other essential needs.
By helping us develop a sustainable major gifts and fundraising program, the volunteer will play a direct role in creating homes, strengthening communities, and improving lives for generations to come. Their expertise will not only help complete one neighborhood but will also help establish a replicable model that can bring permanently affordable cottage home communities to other areas of Delaware.
For a skilled volunteer looking to make a lasting difference, this project offers the opportunity to apply their professional experience to create meaningful, measurable, and enduring community impact.
Little Living is well positioned to make this project successful. Our Board of Directors has identified fundraising and development as one of our highest strategic priorities. Little Living is fully committed to implementing the recommendations developed through this project.
We have already completed much of the foundational work needed for a successful fundraising program. This includes a clearly defined mission, strategic messaging, grant proposals, marketing materials, a website, social media presence, project renderings, development plans, budgets, and a compelling case for support for Market Street Village. We have also secured significant public and private funding commitments, demonstrating both project momentum and community confidence.
The volunteer will have direct access to board leadership, including committee members who can provide timely feedback, gather requested information, and implement recommendations throughout the engagement. We will schedule regular meetings, establish clear milestones, and ensure that requested materials are provided promptly.
Most importantly, we view this project as building long-term organizational capacity, not simply completing a short-term assignment. The fundraising strategies, donor cultivation plan, and development tools created through this engagement will become part of Little Living's ongoing operations as we complete Market Street Village and expand permanently affordable cottage home communities throughout Delaware.
Little Living creates permanently affordable, high-quality cottage home communities that provide safe, energy-efficient housing for seniors, veterans, and working families. Through innovative design, strong community partnerships, and responsible stewardship, we expand access to attainable housing while fostering stable, healthy, and connected neighborhoods throughout Delaware.
