We are seeking an Automation Developer for the Eco Action Challenge Program Implementation

GoGreenLocally is seeking an intermediate-level **Automation Developer** to help implement and launch the operational systems behind our Eco Action Challenge, a community sustainability program that combines online environmental education with real-world local action.

This is a short-term, implementation-focused volunteer project supporting the launch of the Eco Action Challenge. You will be joining a newly formed automation and systems team, working collaboratively to turn the program's workflows and technical plans into reliable, functioning automations. As the team is new, this is also an opportunity to help establish practical development, testing, documentation, and handoff processes that can support the program beyond its initial launch.

Key areas:

* Building participant workflow automations from enrollment through program completion
* Connecting participant forms with databases and other program systems
* Automating the movement and organization of participant data between platforms
* Supporting certificate-generation and recognition workflows
* Implementing components of our participant portfolio-generation process
* Creating triggers, conditional logic, notifications, and status updates
* Testing workflows from beginning to end and identifying failure points
* Troubleshooting integrations and improving reliability
* Documenting automations so they can be maintained and expanded by future team members

What We're Looking For

This opportunity is ideal for an **intermediate automation developer** who is comfortable taking an established process or system design and turning it into a working solution.

Helpful experience includes:

* Workflow and process automation
* API, webhook, or platform integrations
* Form-to-database automation
* No-code/low-code automation platforms
* Database and data-mapping concepts
* Conditional workflow logic
* Testing and troubleshooting multi-step automations
* Basic scripting or software development experience
* Clear technical documentation

Experience with tools such as Zapier, Make, Google Apps Script, Jotform, Baserow, or similar platforms is helpful, but experience with comparable systems is equally welcome.

Project Goal

The primary goal is to help bring the Eco Action Challenge automation system to launch readiness.

By the end of the project, we hope to have key participant workflows functioning reliably from information submitted through program forms and databases to completion records, certificates, recognition, and portfolio-related processes.

### Why This Project Matters

The Eco Action Challenge is designed to help people move beyond learning about sustainability and begin taking meaningful action in their own communities.

Behind that seemingly simple participant experience are many moving pieces. Effective automation will allow GoGreenLocally, an all-volunteer nonprofit, to support more participants without creating an unsustainable administrative workload for our team.

Your work will help create the operational infrastructure that makes that growth possible.
Our all-volunteer mission is to provide information, resources, and support for people to live more sustainably and take action to clean, protect, and restore the environment. This project allows us to focus on supporting and empowering communities across the U.S. and not being bogged down in admin tasks that can be automated.
This project allows our limited volunteer resources to go into expanding our impact to inspire more people to live more sustainably and take action to clean, protect, and regenerate our environment. We don't want to be swimming in admin tasks and have our Eco Action Challenge be limited because of a lack of automation.
