Interview Toolkit for a Key Role

We are seeking a volunteer with experience in recruiting or HR management to help us design a structured, skills-first interview process for one open role.

Our goal is to move beyond credential-based screening questions and build an interview approach that helps us assess candidates based on their skills, behaviors, and decision-making in real-world situations. This will help us identify strong candidates who are well-equipped to contribute to our work.

The volunteer will work with our team to:

- Review our current job or board description and interview materials for one role
- Identify 4-6 core responsibilities and the skills needed for success
- Develop behavioral and situational interview questions aligned to those responsibilities
- Create realistic workplace scenarios to assess how candidates think and respond
- Develop follow-up questions to evaluate depth, judgment, and proficiency
- Build a simple, consistent interview scorecard to support fair, skills-based evaluation across candidates

Final deliverable: A ready-to-use interview toolkit for one role, including structured interview questions, job scenarios, a scorecard, and brief written guidance our team can use to run consistent, skills-first interviews going forward.

AIU has been a volunteer-run organization for 15 years and has been successful in supporting, educating and advocating for those with adrenal insufficiency and their caregivers. We are at a point where we are ready and feel it is important to hire our first employee. We are hiring a part-time Operations Coordinator to help the director with a variety of tasks, from organizing the AIU calendar, to coordinating that sponsor benefits are met and helping with our live events.

To support this work, we will:

- Assign a dedicated point of contact for the volunteer
- Share our current job or board description and any existing interview materials
- Provide context on our organization, team, and hiring goals
- Be available for regular check-ins and timely feedback
- Ensure team members involved in hiring are available for input, and that decision-makers are aligned and supportive of the project goals
