Migrate our home grown desktop Microsoft Access database to cloud

Globe Aware has used a custom Microsoft Access database for many years to manage our international volunteer programs. The database is fairly small, stable, actively used, and contains our core program, participant, and reporting data (data of approx. 300 volunteers per year).

We are seeking an experienced database professional to help migrate this existing database to Azul SQL, a secure cloud-based platform that has already been selected by our team (or narrowed to a final preferred option before the project begins).

The primary goals are to:

-Migrate existing tables and relationships
-Validate migrated data
-Recreate several essential reports currently used by staff
-Document the database structure and migration process
-Provide basic guidance so our staff can comfortably use the new system

The objective is to preserve our existing workflows while moving away from a desktop-only database to a secure cloud solution that supports remote access, improved backup, and future growth.

A secure, cloud-based database and program-specific report templates will improve data security, reporting, and program monitoring and allow us more time to focus on serving our communities. This will help Globe Aware better document volunteer outcomes, support local partners with reliable information, and strengthen sustainable community projects by enabling smarter, safer program management. It also means that if a computer were to get destroyed, data would be more secure and live someplace else - and allow remote staff to access database more easily.

We will provide the complete Microsoft Access file, lists of required reports, and direct availability with our Exec director for interviews and testing. Volunteers will collaborate with Exec Director on accessing the new cloud system, validate migrated data, and deliver documentation so our team can adopt the new system.
