We are looking for a graphic designer to help us create a limited-edition collection of T-shirt designs for Books That Build Skills, our literacy and STEM nonprofit serving girls ages 10–15.

Rather than traditional nonprofit merchandise, we want to create a series of special “drops”—fun, clever, highly wearable designs inspired by reading, curiosity, STEM, careers, creativity, and the adventurous personality of our Charms Book Series.

We already have an established style guide, brand colors, fonts, messaging, and visual direction. We need a designer who can take that foundation and turn it into approximately 4–6 original T-shirt concepts that feel fresh enough that students, parents, readers, and supporters would actually want to wear them.

The collection will launch this fall and carry into the holiday shopping and giving season, with proceeds supporting our nonprofit programs.

Our goal is merchandise that starts conversations, builds recognition for Books That Build Skills, and gives our community a fun way to wear what they believe in.
Books That Build Skills uses storytelling, hands-on learning, and career exploration to help girls build confidence, curiosity, practical skills, and a greater understanding of the opportunities available to them.

Our proprietary Charms Book Series sits at the heart of that mission, turning stories into opportunities for readers to explore everything from leadership and decision-making to STEM, project management, budgeting, and career discovery.

This merchandise collection supports that mission in two ways. Proceeds from each drop will help fund the programs and resources we provide for girls, while the designs themselves give students, families, and supporters a visible way to become part of the Books That Build Skills community.

We want girls to be proud of being readers, makers, thinkers, explorers, and future problem-solvers. Great design can turn those ideas into something they are excited to wear—and every shirt can help us put more opportunities into the hands of the next girl.
This project will give us a professionally designed merchandise collection that can become both a fundraising tool and a new way to build awareness for Books That Build Skills.

By creating several limited-edition designs at once, we can plan individual product drops throughout the fall and holiday season, giving us multiple opportunities to engage our audience rather than relying on a single fundraising campaign.

The completed designs will allow our small team to move directly into production, e-commerce, photography, social media, and promotional campaigns. They can also establish a creative direction that we can build upon for future merchandise collections.

Most importantly, this project helps us develop a sustainable earned-revenue opportunity that complements traditional donations, sponsorships, and grants while introducing more families to our work.
