We are looking for a graphic designer to help us bring our new Secret Book Society to life.

The Secret Book Society is an extension of Books That Build Skills and the Charms Book Series, created to keep girls ages 10–15 engaged with reading, creativity, career exploration, and real-world skills beyond the books themselves.

We already have an established organizational style guide, brand direction, colors, fonts, and visual identity, so we are not starting from scratch. We need a designer who can take that existing creative direction and develop two specific deliverables:

• A distinctive Secret Book Society logo that complements the Books That Build Skills and Charms Book Series brands
• A reusable, editable template for our monthly Secret Book Society digital magazine/e-zine
• A printable membership card

The goal is to create a fun, polished visual identity that feels like something girls genuinely want to belong to—not another school assignment. We hope to launch the Secret Book Society to coincide with the beginning of the new school year, so this is a focused project with a clear end product and timeline.
Books That Build Skills uses storytelling to help girls build confidence, curiosity, practical life skills, and awareness of the careers and opportunities available to them.

At the heart of our organization is the proprietary Charms Book Series, which transforms reading into an interactive experience through stories, hands-on projects, problem-solving, and career discovery.

The Secret Book Society extends that experience beyond the final page. Through a monthly digital magazine and community, readers will have new reasons to read, create, explore, ask questions, and stay connected to the world of the Charms Book Series throughout the year.

Strong design is especially important for the young audience we serve. Creating an inviting, adventurous Secret Book Society identity helps us meet girls where they are and make reading and learning feel like something they get to participate in—not something they have to do.
A professional logo and reusable magazine template will give us the creative foundation we need to launch the Secret Book Society and continue producing it efficiently each month.

Rather than redesigning each issue from the ground up, our team will be able to focus on developing great stories, activities, career exploration, challenges, and other content while working within a consistent professional template.

This project also gives us a visual identity we can showcase on the BooksThatBuildSkills.org website, membership materials, social media, promotional campaigns, and future resources. With the design system in place, our small nonprofit team can independently create future issues while maintaining a cohesive and recognizable brand.
