Financial Management Review & Grant Readiness Assessment
As our organization continues to grow, we are preparing for larger grant opportunities, expanded corporate partnerships, and future capital initiatives. We are seeking an experienced professional to assess our current financial management practices and provide practical recommendations that will strengthen our financial stewardship, reporting, and organizational readiness.
We recently transitioned from Aplos to QuickBooks Online and are looking for guidance during this important stage of growth. The review will primarily be based on our historical financial reports and documentation from Aplos, while also providing recommendations that will help us establish strong financial reporting and internal control practices as we implement QuickBooks Online.
Potential areas of support include:
* Reviewing our historical financial reports and reporting practices from Aplos
* Evaluating whether our financial reports effectively support leadership, board oversight, grant applications, and major donor reporting
* Assessing current financial procedures and internal controls and identifying opportunities for improvement
* Recommending practical financial management best practices appropriate for an organization of our size and stage of growth
* Identifying opportunities to strengthen financial documentation, transparency, and accountability
* Providing a prioritized action plan with recommendations that can be implemented as we transition to QuickBooks Online
This is not an audit, tax preparation, or bookkeeping project. Rather, we are seeking an experienced professional who can provide an objective assessment of our financial management practices and leave us with practical recommendations that strengthen our organization for the future.
Because we are preparing a significant grant proposal due September 1, we hope to begin this project as soon as possible. While we recognize that meaningful organizational improvements continue beyond a single grant cycle, we believe this review will help strengthen both our upcoming proposal and our long-term financial management infrastructure.
These improvements will support Dorcas Destiny International as we continue providing daily meals for more than 700 children, educational support, care for 36 orphans, and assistance to vulnerable families in Kenya. The volunteer's expertise will help build a stronger, more sustainable organization capable of expanding its impact for years to come.
Our team will provide the information and documentation needed for the review, including historical financial reports and supporting materials from Aplos, as well as context regarding our recent transition to QuickBooks Online. We will designate a primary project lead who will serve as the volunteer's main point of contact, coordinate meetings, answer questions promptly, and ensure timely feedback throughout the engagement.
We are preparing a significant grant proposal due September 1 and are proactively strengthening our financial management practices to support long-term organizational growth. While this timeline provides an immediate opportunity to apply the volunteer's recommendations, our goal is to implement improvements that enhance financial stewardship, transparency, board oversight, and grant readiness well beyond this project.
Our Board of Directors has recently completed a comprehensive board development and governance process and is committed to strengthening the organization's operational and financial capacity. Leadership is prepared to review the volunteer's recommendations, prioritize implementation, and incorporate practical improvements into our financial management policies, reporting practices, and internal controls.
We view this engagement as the beginning of a stronger financial management framework and are committed to carrying the work forward after the project concludes.
