Financial Audit of Sanctuary Expansion Master Budget Workbook

We are building a $16.76M expansion budget for a private chimpanzee and great ape sanctuary in Southern California. Before any other financial analysis begins, we need a CPA or financial analyst to conduct a cross-tab data integrity audit of our 18-tab Excel master budget workbook. We have already identified two confirmed discrepancies: (1) a chimpanzee food cost that differs between tabs — $12/day in one tab vs. $18/day in others, creating a potential $26,280/year error — and (2) a "Total (All Animals)" column that shows $158,256 for chimpanzees when 12 animals × $9,870/year = $118,440. The volunteer will trace all inter-tab formula references, verify category subtotals reconcile to master totals, confirm CAPEX contingency arithmetic ($14.58M × 15% = $2,186,463), and produce a written discrepancy log with corrected values and cell references. This is a prerequisite for 16 other financial tasks in our budget series.

Change for Chimps will provide lifetime sanctuary care to chimpanzees and great apes rescued from research laboratories, entertainment, and the exotic pet trade. An accurate, validated budget is the foundation of our $16.76M capital campaign — which funds the habitats, veterinary clinics, and operational infrastructure our animals need. Every hour this volunteer invests in data accuracy directly protects our ability to secure the funding the chimpanzees will depend on. This is the first domino in a chain that makes permanent sanctuary care possible.

We have prepared: (1) a read-only copy of the full 18-tab master budget workbook; (2) a Volunteer Materials & Data Validation Guide that identifies every known discrepancy, which specific cells and formulas to investigate, and external sources (USDA APHIS records, peer sanctuary Form 990s) for spot-checking per-animal cost norms; and (3) a detailed task brief explaining the intended design logic of each tab. We will respond to questions within 24 hours. The deliverable — a confirmed discrepancy log and corrected cell reference list — is shared immediately with all other volunteers working on downstream financial modeling tasks.
