Phoebe's Safe Haven is a newly established 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to creating accessible, ADA-compliant safe housing and support services for women with disabilities who are survivors of domestic violence. As we continue building our organization, we are seeking a skilled Volunteer Recruitment Coordinator to help us establish a sustainable volunteer recruitment program.

During this project, we would like the volunteer to help us develop and implement an organized volunteer recruitment strategy. Specifically, we are seeking assistance with creating a recruitment plan, refining volunteer position descriptions, identifying effective recruitment channels, and establishing a streamlined process for attracting, screening, and onboarding volunteers.

The volunteer would also help us organize our recruitment workflow by recommending applicant tracking methods, developing communication templates for prospective volunteers, and creating basic recruitment metrics to help us evaluate our outreach efforts. If time allows, we would appreciate guidance on building relationships with colleges, corporate volunteer programs, and community organizations to expand our volunteer pipeline.

By the conclusion of the project, we hope to have a clear and repeatable volunteer recruitment system that will enable Phoebe's Safe Haven to consistently attract qualified volunteers as our organization grows. This foundation will strengthen our capacity to serve disabled survivors of domestic violence and support our long-term mission of providing accessible safety, advocacy, and empowerment.
Every volunteer we recruit expands Phoebe's Safe Haven's ability to serve women with disabilities who are survivors of domestic violence—a population that is too often overlooked and faces significant barriers to finding accessible safety and support.

As a young nonprofit, our ability to fulfill our mission depends on building a strong, dedicated volunteer team. Volunteers will help us increase awareness, provide administrative support, assist with fundraising, strengthen communications, support survivor advocacy, and expand programs that move us closer to opening fully accessible, ADA-compliant safe housing.

By helping us build an effective volunteer recruitment system, this project will create a lasting infrastructure that enables us to attract and retain skilled volunteers for years to come. Rather than filling just one position, this project will help us build the foundation for an entire volunteer program that grows alongside our organization.

The impact extends far beyond our internal operations. A stronger volunteer workforce means more survivors can be reached with resources, advocacy, education, and hope. It also allows our small nonprofit to maximize every donated dollar by leveraging the talents of dedicated community members.

This is an opportunity to create sustainable, long-term impact. The systems developed through this project will continue supporting our mission long after the engagement ends, helping Phoebe's Safe Haven build the capacity needed to provide accessible safety, restore dignity, and empower women with disabilities to rebuild their lives free from abuse.

For volunteers who want to use their professional skills to create meaningful social change, this project offers the chance to help build an organization from the ground up and leave a lasting legacy for an underserved community.
Phoebe's Safe Haven is fully committed to making this project a successful partnership. Our leadership team has identified volunteer recruitment as a key organizational priority, and we have the support of our Board of Directors to implement the recommendations and tools developed during this project.

To prepare, we have already established our organizational mission, values, branding, and volunteer program framework. We have drafted several volunteer position descriptions, developed onboarding materials, and created organizational resources that will be shared with the volunteer partner. We have also begun recruiting volunteers through various platforms, giving us valuable insight into our current process and where improvements are needed.

Throughout the engagement, we will provide timely feedback, be available for scheduled meetings, and ensure the volunteer has access to the information needed to complete the project efficiently. We value collaboration and are open to adopting best practices and recommendations that strengthen our recruitment efforts.

Once the project is complete, our leadership team will immediately implement the recruitment strategy, communication templates, and processes developed through this engagement. These resources will become part of our long-term volunteer management system and will support the continued growth of Phoebe's Safe Haven as we expand our programs and services for women with disabilities who are survivors of domestic violence.

We are excited to partner with a skilled professional who can help us build a strong volunteer foundation that will have a lasting impact on the communities we serve.

Organization Mission

Our mission is to provide safe, accessible, and trauma-informed housing for disabled women who are survivors of domestic violence. We believe that every woman deserves a place where she can heal, be seen, and be supported — regardless of physical ability. Through advocacy, shelter, and support services, we are building a future where no woman has to choose between safety and accessibility. We exist to break cycles, restore dignity, and create lasting change.
