About the Opportunity

Assess the current QuickBooks setup (classes and Projects) and recommend and implement optimizations to help use QB Projects for grant-level fund accounting. As a main outcome of the reporting and cash management review we would like to ensure alignment with GAAP requirements that also help to specify which assets are deferred or released net asset lines (generally due to time restrictions), and and also produce budget-note templates and brief documentation. Details will be provided in interviews.

Accurate GAAP-based grant accounting and clear budget notes will improve financial transparency with our Board members and major funders, supporting reporting and stewardship for Balafon and offer transparency that grant funds are tracked and reported properly. This clarity supports continued public and foundation support for uplifting West African arts that strengthen community connections and personal wellness.

We currently use classes for program, administration, and fundraising and QB Projects for grant tracking. Volunteers will work with our staff to review accounting records and configuration; specific grant examples and QuickBooks access details will be provided during interviews. Our team is prepared to discuss and adopt recommendations.
