Optimize Google Ads Grant Account
Our Google Ads account is set up, and we have attempted to activate and manage it internally. However, we need expert guidance to ensure the account is properly configured and optimized according to Google Ad Grant requirements and best practices.
While we have:
- A functioning website with targeted landing pages
- Google Tag Manager installed
- Google Analytics connected
- Google Search Console configured
- Initial ad campaigns created
We are not confident these systems are working together correctly or that we are tracking the right conversions.
At this stage, our ads have not produced measurable results in:
Donations
Program inquiries or registrations
Podcast growth and engagement
Awareness for key nonprofit initiatives
We believe technical issues, tracking gaps, and campaign optimization opportunities are limiting performance.
The goal of this project is to improve the performance and effectiveness of our Google Ads account so we can increase awareness, engagement, and conversions.
Specifically, we need help to:
1. Audit Account Setup
Review Google Ad Grant account structure
Verify compliance with grant requirements
Identify campaign, keyword, and targeting issues
2. Validate Analytics + Tracking
Confirm Google Tag Manager is installed correctly
Verify Google Analytics event tracking
Confirm Search Console integration
Ensure conversion tracking is functioning properly
3. Optimize Campaign Performance
Improve campaigns for:
Donations
School and library program awareness
Sponsorship opportunities
Podcast and educational content visibility
Book and literacy program awareness
This includes:
Keyword strategy
Ad copy optimization
Campaign structure
Audience targeting
Landing page alignment
4. Improve Conversion Strategy
Help us define and track meaningful success metrics such as:
Donation completions
Newsletter signups
Program applications
Sponsorship inquiries
Podcast views/listens
Time on page / engagement
We are seeking a volunteer who can take ownership of this project from audit through implementation. We are not looking only for recommendations—we need someone who can actively complete the technical setup, optimization, and configuration work.
The ideal volunteer will:
Technical Setup & Validation
Audit and troubleshoot our Google Ad Grant account
Verify Google Analytics setup and fix any tracking issues
Audit and configure Google Tag Manager
Verify Google Search Console integration
Ensure all systems are connected and functioning correctly
Conversion Tracking Setup
Set up and validate conversion tracking for:
Donations
Contact form submissions
Program inquiries
Sponsorship inquiries
Newsletter signups
Podcast engagement
Other key website actions
Campaign Optimization & Implementation
Review current campaigns and identify performance issues
Restructure campaigns where needed
Improve keyword targeting
Improve ad copy
Optimize audience targeting
Align ads with landing pages for stronger conversion performance
Performance Reporting
Establish meaningful KPIs and conversion goals
Build reporting/dashboard visibility so we can measure ongoing performance
Ensure we understand what is working, what is not, and where users drop off
Final Outcome
By the end of the engagement, we want a fully functioning and optimized Google Ad Grant system with:
Accurate tracking
Optimized campaigns
Clear performance reporting
Improved traffic quality
Stronger conversion potential
The goal is to leave this project with systems fully configured and operational—not just a list of recommendations.
With stronger Google Ads performance, we can:
- Reach more students and families
- Expand awareness among schools, libraries, and community partners
- Increase sponsorship and donor support
- Grow participation in educational programming
- Scale our impact nationally
Every improvement in our digital outreach helps us connect more young people with opportunities that build confidence, literacy, career awareness, and future-ready skills.
Ultimately, this work helps us expand access to life-changing educational resources for students who may not otherwise have exposure to these opportunities.
Books That Build Skills powered by Athenian is a 501c3 nonprofit focused on helping students, specifically girls, ages 10–15 explore careers, build life skills, and gain confidence through STEM education. Through books, library partnerships, and podcast content, we help students better understand the real-world skills and careers shaping the future.
Our mission is to equip the next generation with the communication, critical thinking, and career readiness skills they need to succeed.
Our team is highly responsive, accessible, and willing to provide whatever information, access, or supporting materials are needed throughout this engagement. We understand that strong implementation requires collaboration, and we are prepared to move quickly to support the work.
We can provide:
- Prompt communication and fast turnaround on questions
- Access to all relevant platforms and accounts
- Existing campaign and performance data
- Program details and audience insights
- Brand messaging and marketing materials
- Existing website pages and landing pages
- Images and creative assets for campaigns
Additionally, if new landing pages, supporting content, or specific creative assets are needed to improve ad performance, we are fully prepared to build or provide those resources quickly.
Our goal is to remove as many barriers as possible so the volunteer can focus on what they do best—optimizing our digital advertising ecosystem for meaningful impact.
