Social Media Strategy & Content Creation Support for Nonprofit Empowering Incarcerated Journalists
Specific areas where we would appreciate assistance include reviewing our current social media platforms, creating branded templates and graphics, developing content ideas and recurring campaigns, and creating a 1–3 month content calendar. We are particularly interested in highlighting incarcerated journalists, promoting articles and podcast episodes, launching a "Meet Our Team" campaign, and developing strategies for short-form video and social media engagement.
Because our team is small and volunteer-driven, we are looking for practical recommendations, content assets, and sustainable systems that we can continue using after the project concludes. The volunteer's work will help us reach new audiences, grow community engagement, and further our mission of empowering incarcerated journalists through storytelling, media, and advocacy.
This project will help us create a more consistent, engaging, and strategic social media presence that highlights the work of incarcerated journalists, promotes articles and podcast episodes, showcases advocacy initiatives, and strengthens connections with supporters, volunteers, and partner organizations. A stronger social media presence will allow us to reach new audiences, increase engagement, and create more opportunities for incarcerated writers to have their stories heard.
By volunteering on this project, you'll help ensure that important perspectives from inside prison walls reach people on the outside. Your work will directly support storytelling, public education, and advocacy efforts that advance understanding, human dignity, and meaningful criminal justice reform.
We have identified several specific goals, including improving consistency across platforms, developing a sustainable content strategy, increasing engagement, highlighting incarcerated journalists and their work, and promoting our podcasts, campaigns, and educational initiatives. We are seeking a volunteer partner who can help us create practical tools and systems that our team can continue using after the project concludes.
Any content templates, recommendations, content calendars, and strategies developed through this project will be actively implemented by our team. We are committed to maintaining and building upon the volunteer's work to increase awareness of our mission, expand our audience, and better amplify the voices of incarcerated journalists and writers.
