My goal for this Taproot Project is to create a clear, realistic crowdfunding budget and fundraising plan for Posi Pos Music. I am exploring donation-based fundraising options such as Fractured Atlas, GoFundMe, Patreon, and possibly Kickstarter in the future, but I need support understanding what funding goal makes sense, how to organize the budget, and how to explain the use of funds clearly to donors.

I would like a skilled volunteer to help me create:

-A simple campaign budget with clear expense categories
-A recommended fundraising goal based on project needs
-A basic use-of-funds breakdown for donor-facing language
-A simple system to track donations, expenses, artist payments, and platform fees
-Guidance on which fundraising model best fits my current capacity

This project will help me move from feeling overwhelmed by fundraising options to having a clear, ethical, and organized plan I can actually implement.
Posi Pos Music creates public health storytelling, arts, education, and media projects centered on Black queer/trans life, HIV narratives, disability, survivorhood, and community care. A clear fundraising budget will help make this work more sustainable and allow me to invite community support in a transparent and organized way.

This project will support the mission by helping Posi Pos Music raise funds for artist time, media production, website and digital tools, accessibility needs, community education, and storytelling projects. With a stronger budget and fundraising plan, I can spend less time feeling overwhelmed by financial logistics and more time creating work that supports healing, visibility, education, and cultural change.
My team and I have prepared for this project by clarifying the purpose of Posi Pos Music and identifying fundraising as a key next step for sustainability. I have already begun researching platforms such as Fractured Atlas, GoFundMe, Patreon, and Kickstarter, and I have a general understanding that I need a campaign budget before launching.

I can provide the volunteer with background on Posi Pos Music, current project goals, estimated costs, existing fiscal sponsorship information, past grant/fellowship experience, and examples of the types of storytelling, arts, and public health work I create. I am looking for practical support that results in a simple budget and fundraising structure I can maintain as a small creative project.

The project outcomes will be used to support a future fundraising campaign, help communicate financial needs to donors, and make sure funds are tracked responsibly.

Organization Mission

Positively Positive Education Productions (Posi Pos Music) is a Black-led arts and narrative change organization that uses creative expression to support youth leadership, civic engagement, and community storytelling. We serve primarily Black, immigrant, Indigenous, students of color, LGBTQ+, disabled, and working-class communities. Through spoken word, photography, and arts-based civic programming, we create trauma-informed, non-extractive spaces where young people can develop their voice, build confidence and leadership, and contribute to community-centered narratives and projects that promote belonging, equity, and social change.
