We'd like to connect with a skilled volunteer who can help us create a 6-week digital campaign strategy and partner activation toolkit for the Louise W. Calhoun Foundation’s July 25, 2026 Shine LA Harbor Workforce & Community Activation / 5K For Change.

The volunteer will help us organize a clear, inspiring, and action-oriented campaign that drives event registrations, volunteer sign-ups, sponsorship engagement, donations, partner sharing, and workforce-interest intake.

Key deliverables would include:

A core campaign message, recommended calls to action, a week-by-week campaign calendar, social media content themes, sample captions, email outreach templates, sponsor/partner sharing copy, volunteer recruitment messaging, landing-page copy recommendations, and a simple post-event impact report outline.

This campaign should connect the 5K For Change to LWCF’s broader mission, including MEAP® — the Maritime Entry Accelerator Program — maritime/logistics career pathways, clean freight and EVSE opportunities, AI cybersecurity digital skills, reentry employment, youth engagement, veteran support, disability inclusion, health, dignity, and community economic mobility.
Through this project, the volunteer will help the Louise W. Calhoun Foundation communicate a movement that connects wellness, workforce opportunity, dignity, and economic mobility.
The Shine LA Harbor Workforce & Community Activation / 5K For Change is more than a one-day event. It is a gateway into LWCF’s broader mission of helping historically overlooked communities — including reentry citizens, veterans, youth, people with disabilities, job seekers, and Harbor-area residents — access training, career pathways, employer connections, and community support.
A strong digital campaign and partner activation toolkit will help us mobilize participants, recruit volunteers, activate sponsors, increase donations, strengthen partner visibility, and capture workforce-interest leads. It will also help LWCF build reusable communications infrastructure for future campaigns, grant opportunities, sponsorship development, and workforce pipeline initiatives.
The volunteer’s expertise will directly support community members by helping LWCF turn awareness into action and action into long-term pathways.
Our team is ready to start immediately and has internal buy-in for this project. Franklin Windom will serve as the project lead and will work directly with the Taproot volunteer.

We can provide the volunteer with existing LWCF materials, including our logo, event flyer, sponsor deck, registration link, volunteer sign-up link, donation/sponsorship link, current sponsor and partner information, approved photos and videos, social media handles, event details, mission language, and background on MEAP® and our workforce initiatives.

We are prepared to meet once per week by Zoom, respond to questions quickly, and provide feedback within 24–48 hours. The volunteer will not be asked to run the event. We are seeking a practical campaign toolkit that our internal team, partners, sponsors, and volunteers can execute before the July 25 activation.

We will keep the scope focused, avoid scope creep, and use the final deliverables to support communications, sponsorship outreach, volunteer recruitment, community engagement, and post-event impact reporting.
