We're looking for a volunteer with experience setting up a bookkeeping system and/or software from scratch! Currently we keep track of everything on an Apple Numbers Spreadsheet. We are in our 5th year as a 501 (c)(3) in NYS and we anticipate exceeding $25,000 in assets for the first time this coming year. We have also received our first small Grant from a local organization. You'll help us set up regular recording, reconciliation, and reporting practices by spending 20-25 hours with us over 4-5 weeks. In our first meeting, we'll share a detailed description of our existing financial record-keeping and reporting systems. In phase one of the project, you'll help us choose a financial software that will be compliant with NYS and Federal nonprofit reporting and then help us migrate our data over to our new software and help us set up our account administrator privileges for our users. In the second phase of our project, you will provide one or two of our team members with basic training. We ask that you make yourself available for up to two weeks to address our questions as we adjust to the new software and systems.
Through working on this project, the volunteer will help our all volunteer organization to continue our mission to keep seniors comfortable and safe in their own homes within our rural isolated mountaintop communities in Upstate New York where Greene, Delaware and Ulster County come together.
Our Vice President, who along with our treasurer have currently been keeping track of our finances. Our Vice President, who has access to our checking accounts and current financial Apple Numbers Spreadsheet that is rapidly becoming unmanageable, will work directly with the volunteer and the project.

Organization Mission

Catskill Neighbors, Inc. is a community based volunteer organization founded by Reverend Ralph Darmstadt of Fleischmanns, NY. We are a recognized NYS Domestic Not-for-Profit Corporation and a Tax Exempt 501(c)(3) organization. Our mission is to help seniors wishing to remain safe and comfortable in their own homes. As time goes by, families and friends often move on and are unable to provide emotional or material support for aging loved ones whose physical abilities or income may diminish. What happens then? Where does a person turn for help? There are government social service agencies which provide important aid, but sometimes simple everyday needs can be filled by individual caring volunteers. That’s where Catskill Neighbors may be of assistance in offering friendship, companionship and a helping hand to local residents.
