Federal Grant Writing for Veteran Suicide Prevention Program
This project will focus specifically on helping our organization strengthen and finalize one major federal grant application that supports suicide prevention and mental wellness services for veterans and their families.
The volunteer would assist with:
- Reviewing, editing, and strengthening sections of the Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox grant application
- Helping refine narratives related to veteran mental health, suicide prevention, retreat outcomes, and program impact
- Assisting with proposal structure, clarity, and alignment with federal grant expectations
- Supporting the development of reusable federal grant materials and boilerplate language that can also be used for one additional future federal grant opportunity
- Providing strategic feedback on proposal positioning and overall competitiveness
Because this is a deadline-driven project, we are specifically looking for someone with experience in federal grant writing who can work collaboratively and efficiently over the next few weeks.
The Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox Suicide Prevention Grant represents a critical opportunity for VRF to expand suicide prevention and mental wellness support services for veterans across the United States.
By supporting this project, the volunteer will directly contribute to:
- Expanding access to veteran suicide prevention and wellness programs
- Increasing the number of veterans and families VRF can serve through healing retreats and support initiatives
- Strengthening long-term sustainability for programs focused on mental health, resilience, and community healing
The impact of this work is immediate and tangible: stronger funding opportunities mean more veterans receiving life-changing support and access to healing-centered care.
To support the volunteer effectively, we already have:
- Draft proposal materials and narrative sections in progress
- Program descriptions, retreat information, and organizational background documents
- Internal data and participant impact information related to veteran wellness and mental health outcomes
- A dedicated internal team available for regular communication, feedback, and quick turnaround on requests
The volunteer will work directly with VRF leadership, including Founder & Chair Henah Hannah, and will receive clear priorities and organized materials to ensure their time is used efficiently.
The work completed through this project will be immediately implemented into our June federal grant submission and future federal funding opportunities.
