Our organization currently is reliant on one earned income revenue stream: facilities rental. We are hoping to expand our earned income revenue streams this year to stabilize our organization's finances.

We would like to partner with a business strategist that can help us evaluate the feasibility and sustainability of new earned income streams. The income streams we are currently considering are: Merchandise, Workshop Programming and Sponsorships. We currently have applied to grants and started hosting workshops, but are looking for ways to expand our offerings.

The strategist will work directly with our founder to help us define specific opportunities within our existing earned income strategy, and help us identify potential new revenue streams to invest time developing.
This project is directly lined to the financial health and sustainability of our organization long term. Your time spent here will help us create critical planning and strategy that contributes to our long term sustainability.
Currently, our main revenue stream as a space is rental costs and fees. We have applied to grant funding to supplement this revenue stream, but in order to grow as an organization we are looking to develop out other potential revenue streams that can help with sustainability.

As an organization, we current serve low income artists, and provide many community discount and the space rental for free at times. However, at our current model we are barely making rent an operational costs, and are not able to pay any staff. In order for us to grow as an organization, its critical that we identify a financial strategy that considers long term growth.

We will also supply the strategist with our financial information, including the operating budget.

Organization Mission

Water & Power provides performance and exhibition space for emerging artists working in electronic music, performance art, and installation. As an artist-led queer collective, we work to create accessible performance opportunities for our BIPOC LGBTQIA+ community of artists who have aged out of traditional institutional resources or never had access to them to begin with. Our programming focuses on peer-led learning from working artists, grassroots artist education, and hands-on workshops.
