My goal for this Taproot Project is to create a cleaner, more professional, and user-friendly website that better reflects the quality, impact, and growth of YWLS while making it easier for supporters, volunteers, partners, and families to engage with our organization.

YWLS is a growing nonprofit that prepares young women—particularly Black and Latinx girls—for pathways in leadership, STEM, entrepreneurship, and college/career success. As our organization has evolved, our website no longer fully reflects who we are today, the professionalism of our work, or the experience we want visitors to have.

We are looking for a skilled volunteer to redesign 4-5 core pages of our Wix website to better reflect our mission of empowering Black and Latinx young women in STEM and leadership.

Our current site doesn't fully capture the professionalism and impact of our evolving programs. We need a volunteer to help us modernize our digital home so we can better engage donors, families, and partners.

This project includes:
- An audit of our current site navigation and user flow.
- A redesign of 4-5 key pages (e.g., Home, About, LBDN, Programs, and Donate). Improving the visual hierarchy and calls-to-action to drive engagement.
- Ensuring the layout is intuitive for our diverse audiences.

We have a refreshed brand identity, high-quality photography, and clear organizational messaging ready to share. You will work directly with our leadership team, who will be available for weekly check-ins and quick feedback. Help us create a digital presence that builds the credibility and trust we need to grow!
A stronger website will help YWLS better tell our story, deepen engagement, and expand access to the opportunities we create for young women.

Our website is often the first introduction prospective donors, volunteers, partners, families, and supporters have to YWLS. A more professional, intuitive, and compelling digital presence will help us more clearly communicate our mission, showcase impact, and make it easier for people to take action.

This project will strengthen our ability to recruit volunteers, steward donors, increase event participation, attract partners, and share opportunities with the young women and families we serve. It will also improve credibility and trust as we continue to grow as a young nonprofit organization.

Ultimately, a stronger website means stronger visibility, stronger relationships, and more sustainable support for our mission—allowing us to invest more deeply in preparing young women to lead, thrive, and pursue pathways where they have historically been underrepresented.
My team and I have prepared for this project by aligning internally on the need for a stronger digital presence and identifying this work as a key organizational priority as YWLS continues to grow.

We have already spent time clarifying our organizational messaging, strengthening our programming model, refining our fundraising efforts, and investing in a refreshed brand identity. We are now ready for our website to better reflect the organization we are becoming and support deeper engagement with our community.

We are prepared to partner closely with a volunteer by sharing access to our current website, brand materials, organizational messaging, content, program information, photography, and examples of websites we admire. We can also provide insight into our audiences and organizational goals so recommendations are grounded in how supporters actually engage with YWLS.

Our team is committed to dedicating time each week for collaboration, feedback, and decision-making to keep the project moving. Importantly, we intend to implement the outcomes of this work and integrate recommendations into our communications, fundraising, and engagement strategy.
